Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Voter ID (EPIC) photo, signature & document requirements
What is the official photo size for Voter ID (EPIC)?
Per the Election Commission of India's Form‑6 guidelines, you need a recent, good quality, unsigned colour photograph, 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, on a white background, with eyes open and both edges of the face clearly visible. Our tool outputs this at 276×354 px, 200 DPI, in the 20–50 KB range that most portals accept.
Do I need to upload a separate signature for Voter ID?
The official online Form 6 / Form 8 on voters.eci.gov.in does not ask for a separate scanned signature image — the declaration is signed on the printed form or completed digitally on the portal. We still provide a signature resizer here (3.5×1.5 cm, a common size used across Indian government and exam forms) in case your state CEO office, an offline copy, or another document you're preparing alongside your Voter ID application asks for one.
Why merge my ID/address proof into a PDF?
Form 6 asks for proof of age and proof of address — common documents like Aadhaar, a bank passbook, or a ration card have two sides. Our tool crops both images to a matching height, merges them side-by-side, and generates a single-page PDF that's easier to attach to your application than two separate image files.
Can I use the same photo for Voter ID and PAN card?
No — the dimensions differ. PAN card photo is 2.5×3.5 cm, while Voter ID photo is 3.5×4.5 cm. Use the respective tool on this site for each so the crop ratio matches exactly.
Why does the portal ask for 200 DPI? What does DPI mean?
DPI (dots per inch) is print-resolution metadata embedded in the JPEG file, separate from the pixel count. Our tool crops to a fixed pixel size (276×354 for photo, 276×118 for signature) and patches the JPEG header to record 200 DPI, so the file prints correctly at the required physical size if it's ever used offline.
Is my photo uploaded to your server? Is it private?
No. Absolutely nothing is uploaded to any server. All image processing — cropping, resizing, DPI injection, and PDF generation — happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your photos never leave your device.
Can I rename the downloaded photo / signature file?
Yes. After cropping, the filename field becomes editable — click it and type any name (e.g. voter_photo.jpeg). The Download button uses whatever name is in that field.
Which documents are accepted as proof of address for Voter ID?
Commonly accepted documents include Aadhaar card, Indian Passport, current Bank/Post Office passbook, Ration Card, registered rent/lease deed, registered sale deed, and utility bills (water/electricity/gas) for at least one year. Check the current Form‑6 list on voters.eci.gov.in for the full set.
